AzSA, Azerbaijani Student Association at Erasmus University Rotterdam

Azerbaijani students at Erasmus. Come find us.

There are more of us at EUR than you would guess. We put on events, we drag new arrivals through the Dutch paperwork maze, and we keep a group chat that answers at one in the morning.

You do not have to be Azerbaijani. Half the people who show up are not.

Which one are you?

Start with the paperwork

Two weeks of Dutch admin, and the order matters. BSN before bank account, bank account before nearly everything else. The whole sequence is written down.

What this is

Mostly people who are glad to see each other

We run tea evenings, a Novruz table, film nights, dinners that go on far too long, and the odd talk when somebody interesting is passing through Rotterdam. Some of it lines up with dates that matter back home. Most of it happens because it is Thursday and somebody had an idea.

The paperwork thing

BSN, DigiD, a bank account that will not open without the BSN, insurance rules that change the day you take a side job, landlords after your deposit. All of it is written down in New in Rotterdam, for Azerbaijani students specifically, because the generic guides skip what catches us out.

The group chat is where the association actually lives. Someone always knows a dentist, a cheap flight home, or which shop still has proper tea. It is invite only, so sign up and a board member adds you.

Just landed in Rotterdam?

Two weeks, in the order that works. Print it and take it to the gemeente.
