Privacy and disclaimer
No analytics, no tracking, no advertising cookies. The pages you read are a folder of files on a server. The join form, the meeting updates list and the board login do handle personal data, and this page says what happens to it.

What we handle, and why
Every part of the site that touches your data, and what it does with it.
- The join form

Fill in the join form and what you typed reaches the board: name, email, programme, year, whether you study at EUR, and anything you wrote in the last box. Only board members can see it.
We use it to tell you about events and to understand who our members are. We do not sell it, share it, or hand it to sponsors. Sponsors are told how many people came to an event, never who.
Want out? Email us and your details are deleted. There is no member account to close, because members do not get accounts.
- Meeting updates
- Subscribing to public meeting updates stores your email address, and your name if you gave one. We use it to announce open meetings and nothing else. It is a separate list from membership, we do not sell or share it, and one email removes you.
- The group chat
- The WhatsApp group is invite only, and a board member adds you after you sign up. Once you are in, it runs on that platform's terms: being in a group shares whatever your own settings share, which is between you and your app.
- The events calendar
- The events page embeds our public Google Calendar. Loading that page means your browser talks to Google, and Google can see that. If you would rather not, subscribe to the calendar in your own app instead and skip the page entirely.
- Photos at events
- We take photos at events and some end up here or on Instagram. If you are in one and would rather not be, tell any board member or email us. It comes down, no reason needed, no awkwardness.
About the guides
What they are, and what they are not.
Everything in New in Rotterdam is written by students of this association from their own experience of going through these steps. It is shared in good faith, to save the next person time.
It is not legal, immigration, financial, medical or tax advice, and nobody here is qualified to give any of those. We are students writing down what happened to us.
Rules, fees, deadlines, addresses and opening hours change, sometimes without any announcement. A page can be accurate the day it is written and wrong three months later, which is why every guide shows the date somebody last checked it. Treat that date as part of the information.
The decision, and the responsibility for it, stays with you. Before you act on anything here, confirm it with the body that actually decides: the IND, gemeente Rotterdam, your bank, your insurer, the university, or the embassy. The association, its board and its members accept no liability for any loss, cost, missed deadline or refused application that follows from relying on this site.
Found something wrong? Tell us and it gets fixed. That is genuinely the fastest way this stays useful.
